Restore: Branding, Website, & Packaging system
Restore is an environmentally friendly, online subscription service that sends customers a new toothbrush every three months. Consumers then pack previously used toothbrushes and cases back in the box to be sent back to the recycle center.
My task was to design packaging that included both shipping labels, instructions for how they work, and packaging that created a sense of greater value for the simple toothbrush. After completing the packaging project, I also extended it to the website as well.
The entire site is designed on a responsive grid; the home page and navigation is very simple. Mousing over any of the lower area brings up little sliders that have some fact about dental health or waste from similar products.
Because the site is really only selling one product, the product page has multiple views of the toothbrush and a more in-depth description of the subscription process as well as a link to the purchasing page.
The purchasing process uses a sort of accordion style checkout with breadcrumbs in place of the usual navigation. At this point, the most important thing is for the user to purchase a brush, not to subscribe to emails.
Users are walked through picking subscription plan, then the actual brush, then entering personal information, and with the confirmation of purchase, encouraged to enter their address for an email receipt and the opportunity to receive other email correspondence.
The box I designed follows standard mail regulations and has an attached inner tray to secure the brush and case. The single sided black and white print design of the custom die-line keeps production costs low; the address for the recycling center is printed on the back. The quote beneath the tray would be random, such that customers would get a new one each time.
The address to send the package to the consumer can be run through a mail processor then laser printed in black onto a previously printed single-color wrapper. Patterns on the outer shipping label denote the bristle strength, while color tells of the handle color inside, ensuring the correct brush is packed. Users will select both color and bristle strength while subscribing to the service online.
I've included the package die-line. The red box shows how the case fits into the rectangular die-cut in the middle.
